If you’re ready to upgrade your mountain biking sunglasses (or even just your everyday sunglasses), the Wildcat Sunglasses by Smith are an amazing, full-coverage, pair of shades to keep your eyes protected. I dig the Wildcats for a handful of reasons. They pair extremely well with my Smith Forefront 2 Helmet, include Chromapop Lenses, and fit really well and stay in place all day even if I’m sweating a ton. These are multi-sport sunglasses and I’ve used them on the bike, on the water, while out skiing, and even just on walks with the dog.
The Wildcats are an oversized frame but they don’t feel excessively huge on. I would say I have a medium-sized face and they fit me well. If you like everything about the Wildcats but have a smaller face, check out the Bobcats that Cally reviewed. These still give you that oversized style without feeling huge on.
Most importantly, the Wildcats are built with Chromapop lenses which provide 100% protection from harmful UVA/B/C Rays. In addition to offering protection, Chromapop also boosts contrasts and colors which give you an amazing viewing experience (even on those lower light days). A huge benefit to the Wildcats is that you can interchange the lenses. They even come with a clear lens so if you’re riding on a really low light day or at night, you can pop the clear lenses in and have protection. I really like the Black Chromapop Lens for bright sunny days. I will likely purchase another lens to have as a cloudy day lens. In addition to being able to swap out the lenses, if you happen to take a digger and destroy your lenses, you won’t have to replace the sunglasses. Just throw a new lens in and you’re good to go.
The Wildcats are built with Evolve which is a bio-based frame material. It’s lightweight yet will endure some abuse. The best part about these sunglasses is that they won’t slip off your face, no matter how sweaty you are, thanks to the Megol temples and nose pieces. The nose pieces are also adjustable to different positions so you can dial in the fit depending on your face shape.
The Wildcats feel good and look good and offer great protection against the sun. You won’t feel fatigued at the end of a long day out in the sun, and you have multiple lens options. Again these pair amazingly well with my Smith Forefront 2 Helmet, especially in terms of venting and fogging. They work really well together and keep you comfortable and protected. The Wildcats are going to be your new favorite sunglasses for any outdoor activity.
