It feels weird to work in overalls that are extremely comfortable, breathable, and stretchy all while being durable. Every time I slip on the T1 Overalls by Truewerk I’m truly baffled by just how comfortable they are. The T1 fabric is definitely what sets these apart from other workwear overalls but they also fit nicely, have the perfect amount of pockets, and look good on.
I dig what Truewerk is doing with the fit of these overalls. They’re built slightly differently than other overalls I’ve tried and they kind of hug my hips and waist nicely so that it doesn’t look like I’m wearing a bag. I was quite surprised by Truewerk’s sizing and I should mention that I went strictly off of their size chart and it was off. I ended up ordering everything one size too big, so I would recommend sizing down one size from what their size chart suggests. I am 5’10, 160 pounds, and have pretty normal proportions but perhaps slightly longer legs and a shorter torso. The large overalls fit but just seemed a bit big. It felt like I was swimming a bit in the larges. I went for the mediums and doubted that they’d be long enough. To my surprise, the mediums fit perfectly and were plenty long! I also tried out a Truewerk flannel and I went with the medium for a perfect fit.
The stretch in these is impressive and again, when I’m wearing them it doesn’t feel like I’m wearing work pants. In addition to moving with me, the T1s are also breathable and moisture-wicking. No matter what you’re doing in the heat or for how long, these will help keep you comfortable all day long.
I’d say in terms of pockets, Truewerk is a step above the rest. I love all of the pocket options but I especially love the hidden zip pocket. It’s always a bonus to have a zip pocket so you can stash a key or money/ID and know for a fact they’ll be there when you’re done with work. Maybe I have trust issues, but I don’t put valuables in non-zip pockets.
I do have to take a minute and acknowledge the one part of the T1 overalls that I don’t love. The top straps are comfortable enough, but the buckles are bulky and don’t keep the strap in place. After a couple of hours of wear, the straps are completely loose and the buckles also have a tendency to twist about (see video). This is the one area on these overalls where I do feel as though there is room for improvement.
