[Review] Surface Sun Protection

For our 5 week Baja trip, we were excited to have with us Surface Sun Protection Products. Since we spend a lot of time outside, and especially so on this beach/kiteboarding trip, we knew we needed sun protection that would endure the water and long days in the sun. We’re both pleased to report that we didn’t get sunburned once while we were in Mexico. We were adamant about applying sunscreen but also can say that the products we were using were high-quality products that worked really well.

Surface has a wide range of products so no matter what you prefer for sun protection, they have you covered. From roll-on sunscreen sticks, easy-to-apply sprays, to lotions there are many options available to fit your needs.

My personal favorite was the Sheer Touch SPF30 Sunscreen Spray (also available in SPF50). Not only does the spray go on easily and quickly, but Surface’s Tropix fragrance is also seriously a dream. It smells so good. I love the spray because you can cover a lot of area really quickly. The Sheer Touch is hard to notice when it’s on because it’s extremely light and not oily. If I were going back to Mexico, I would take a few bottles of the Sheer Touch SPF50 Spray with me.

Tyson’s favorite product was the SPF50 Clear Zinc Lotion made with Non-Nano Zinc Oxide. This product is definitely a close second for me as well. It provides amazing protection and rubs in to be nearly clear. I’ve never tried a Zinc sunscreen that I liked but the Surface Zinc Lotion is definitely an exception! The Zinc, like the Sheer Touch, is lightweight on and not oily. I used it on my face multiple times a day for 5 weeks and typically I would break out with products like this on my face but never had an issue with this Zinc. This bottle, though we used it multiple times a day (only on our faces) for 5-6 weeks was over half full at the end of our trip. The 6 oz bottle costs $19.99 and I think it’s an incredible price for SPF50 zinc that’s made with high-quality materials and feels good on.

The third product that we were impressed by is Surface’s CBD Infused Aloe Vera After Sun Spray. We’ve not used topical CBD products in the past but we found the After Sun Spray to feel really nice after a long day in the sun. Since we were using such amazing sun protection products, we never even got sunburned! But again, the After Sun spray feels good even without a sunburn after a long day in the sun. Surface says “Hemp-derived CBD helps rejuvenate and nourish your skin, leaving it feeling soft and supple. It also offers soothing relief and protection against damage caused by free radicals and environmental exposure” (surfacecorp.com). If you find that you benefit from CBD, we’d highly recommend trying the After Sun Spray.

Sun protection, whether you’re in the sun every day or only for days at a time on vacation is extremely important! Not only did we feel very comfortable wearing Surface Products, but we also knew that we were protected from sun damage. Surface says they are the “World’s Most Comfortable Sunscreen.” We haven’t tried every single sunscreen out there so we can’t speak to this, however, we can say that Surface is certainly the most comfortable sunscreen we’ve ever worn or tried. We also have to mention that our sunscreen came with an air freshener with the Tropix scent. The air fresheners are the ONLY thing that got rid of the horrible mothball smell of the RV we bought for Baja.
