I work in a primarily male-dominated industry and so it’s nice that I can wear boots that perform really well for what I need but I can still look like a lady out there! I love the functional lace that Xtratuf added to the 15 in. Women’s Legacy Boot, among other things. I started wearing Xtratufs before they had women specific versions and while I loved them still, I’m excited to be wearing boots that are specifically designed for a women’s foot/leg/build. The Legacy Lace 15 in. boots feel good, look good, and function just as well as any of their men’s boots.
I can’t imagine going on a ski trip and not having the Legacys, especially for the spring time when snow starts to melt and parking lots turn into mud pits. I guess I can’t imagine not having a 100% waterproof boot and if you’re reading this and you’re active in the winter, it’s about time you try having a waterproof boot. You can literally walk through anything while your friends are jumping over and around deep slush pits.
In the winter, I generally take Hank out for hikes in my Xtratufs just because I know I’ll be covered whether I’m walking through mud, rain, sleet, or snow. In fact, I think it’s a testament to how comfortable I find my Xtratuf’s because I have literally hiked miles in them.
Aside from being a great spring, winter, and fall boot, working in the agricultural industry, I typically use the Legacys for work endeavors. I can’t say that I wear them everyday but they are definitely a boot that I have at my doorstep for the wet days or wet jobs. Not only are they 100% waterproof (I work around a lot of water), they are also chemical resistant. Not to say that I am always spilling or splashing chemicals but if there is an off chance of a spill, my feet will be protected. I’d say for being chemical and acid resistant, waterproof, and slip resistant, these are pretty darn cute boots!
In addition to resisting chemicals, the slip resistant outsoles will ensure I won’t be falling off of the airplane wings if they get a little bit wet. When searching for a women’s specific work boot, it is really hard to find something with a safe sole for my line of work. In fact, it’s hard to find anything that’s made for hard working ladies.
The laces not only look cute on these Legacys, they actually function (imagine that!). You can get a really precise fit by cinching down on the laces or loosening them. If you have stronger calf muscles and struggle to find a boot with a shaft that will accommodate, I would highly recommend these! The gusset under the laces really allows for a lot of adjustment.
One thing about these boots is that I switched to these from a pair of insulated Legacy’s and I could definitely tell a difference. These are not nearly as warm, but I just adjust my socks for the weather. If it’s warm out I wear really thin socks but if it’s cold, I’ll wear a wool sock. I’m typically between 8 and 8.5 and with these I went down to the 8. At first I thought it was a bad choice and I should’ve sized up to a 9 but after multiple wears, I definitely think the 9 would be too big. I can comfortably wear a thick sock with these too and that was my biggest concern.
I can’t say enough good things about Xtratuf and the Legacys in general. Not only do they look good, you can get through anything and have dry feet at the end of the day. Whether you’re working in a boating industry, agricultural or farming industry, or simply want a comfortable and durable boot for walking your dog through wet or muddy environments, I would highly recommend the Legacy.
