Introducing my new favorite fall/winter/spring/chilly summer night jacket for around town and after skiing: the Retreat Jacket by Orage. Not only is the Retreat extremely warm and comfortable, it’s super stylish too. I’ve never gotten more compliments out of a down jacket than I have wearing the Retreat.
Perhaps it’s the beautiful gold color, but the cut and accenting throughout also help to make it a fan favorite. The longer length gives it a sleek look but also helps to keep your butt warm whether you’re walking your dog through a winter wonderland or sitting on a bench waiting for the bus home from a long night of dancing with your girlfriends.
I’m not afraid to wear the Retreat in a snowstorm either, as the Eco DWR (durable water repellant) coating keeps snow/water from soaking the duck down insulation. The 480 fill down definitely is a good amount of down to keep you warm and comfortable without the bulky feel of a heavy down jacket.
I’m 5’10 and around 145 pounds (on a good day) and the Large is a perfect fit. It’s a little bit oversized, but I like that feel because on real cold days I can easily layer a fleece or down vest underneath it. The sleeves are plenty long which is always a plus for me.
I love the design and functionality of the hand pockets. There are larger hand pockets, which are overlapped by a smaller pocket that zips shut. This is perfect for valuables, especially if you don’t want to lug your entire wallet to the bar.
A two way zipper and cinch-able hood are features that show you that Orage really does consider the realistic environment which this jacket is made for, not just some stylish jacket that never gets a glance at inclement weather. In contrast, the bright trim around the hood and zipper let’s you know that they want you to look good while staying warm and dry.
If you are at all questioning whether or not you need a warm layer that is perfect for nights out, après ski, or dog walks, let this be your answer… You need this jacket in your life! Not only is it amazingly cozy and warm, it’s so stylish.
