Having CJ in the Adventure Bike community is a godsend for all of us. Most of his products are products of problems that he has encountered on his own machine in the past. He works to make your motorcycle more prepared for the road ahead and less likely to break or malfunction either in the backcountry or the night before a big ride. If every producer out there had the same type of experience with what he or she was creating, the world would have better-functioning products made with purpose and high-quality materials.
The LC8 Alternator Plug Kit by CJ Designs is a must for anyone who owns or plans on owning a KTM LC8 for a long time. In order to check the valves, it is necessary to remove the PLASTIC plug on the alternator case. This plug is known to split or crack, resulting in it being non-functional.
The LC8 Alternator Plug kit not only includes a new and improved billet engine plug, but also a 10mm to 14mm adapter and a crank lock bolt.
CJ Designs’ plug is more durable, functional, and reliable than the stock plastic plug and comes in orange or black so you can add some KTM orange bling to your bike. With CJ’s plug, you no longer need a 14mm Allen which can be hard to track down. All you need is a 10mm socket or t-handle wrench for the new plug.
The 10mm to 14mm adapter included in the kit also resolves the issue of having to carry a 14mm Allen with you in your tool kit. Now, simply throw the adapter in your tool kit and you are able to use a 10mm socket or t-handle to turn your motor.
The crank lock bolt replaces the bolt that KTM provides so you can lock the engine at top dead center. The stock bolt can be threaded into your engine too far and you can essentially lose it! The head on CJ’s bolt not only lets you turn the bolt by hand, but it also has a limit to how far you can thread the bolt.
The LC8 Alternator Plug Kit is another fine example of the time and thought that goes into CJ Designs’ products. The products are flawlessly produced and will make your life much easier when it comes to maintenance on your KTM (which we all know all too well). You can also just buy the Plug.
