[Review] The FRĒ Waterproof/Dropproof/Dirtproof Case by LifeProof

There aren’t many things that put my mind more at ease than having my phone protected in a LifeProof case. By letting my iPhone X live in the FRĒ case made by LifeProof, it is 100% protected from anything it may encounter. The FRĒ is waterproof, dirtproof, and dropproof and will keep your phone looking and feeling new for many years to come.

The kind of people who don’t put their $800-$1200 phone in a case take way more risk than I’m willing to with my expensive piece of technology. For under $100, it seems like a no-brainer to wrap your phone up in something that will keep it protected.

The FRĒ is submersible up to 2 meters for an hour so if you find yourself around water a lot, it would be a good idea to use this case. Even for minor splashes and spills, I like being able to just wipe the case down and not worry about my phone function. It’s also kind of cool to be able to take your phone with you on water adventures to document with photos etc. Our recent canoe trip to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area was a perfect testament to this and when you are in and out of a canoe several times a day, your chances of dropping something in the water are pretty good! I was never afraid to pull my phone out to take some photos and it wasn’t a big deal if it got splashed.

Something that I succumb to often is the butter finger effect. This is simply when I can’t hold onto anything and most objects that touch my fingers will slip out of them. The FRĒ will protect your phone from drops for 2 meters. I have tested this a lot in the past with previous LifeProof cases and can say that it definitely works.

Since I’ve always had my phones in LifeProof cases, I really didn’t understand how nasty they actually got when not in 360˚ protection. When I first got my phone, I bought a cheaper case to house it in while I waited for my LifeProof case. I couldn’t believe how gross and grimy my phone got after only a few weeks! Not only was it gross, but it really did put some unnecessary wear and tear on my phone.

We are often doing activities outside and I really like how everything is protected from gathering dust and dirt. All of the ports are sealed and dust does not make its way through the case. It’s pretty rewarding to own a phone for 3 years and when you go to sell it, it looks like a brand new phone thanks to having it protected.

One thing that I think LifeProof has improved upon is the sound quality through the case. I have had issues in the past with my LifeProof case but this one has not lent itself to any problems. I can hear clearly and the people on the other line can hear me without issue.
