If you’re still sleeping on a Therm-a-rest sleeping pad from ’98, it’s about time you upgraded. This was the recent case for me and I couldn’t believe that I waited so long to try out the new and improved sleeping pads from Therm-a-rest. Not only is the NeoAir Trekker SV more packable and more comfortable, it is easier and quicker to inflate and deflate thanks to Therm-a-rest’s new SpeedValve design.
Coming in at 77 inches, the NeoAir Trekker SV Long is the perfect length for myself at 6 feet. I’d rather have more material than less so I went with the Long for both the pad and my Antares HD Sleeping bag. Weighing in at 2 pounds, it’s not the most lightweight sleeping pad on the market (Therm-a-rest offers a lightweight pad with similar features), but it’s perfect for the adventures I’m heading out on.
Perhaps the most important and my favorite thing about the NeoAir Trekker SV is how comfortable it is. With my old pad, I could still feel rocks underneath me. With the NeoAir Trekker, I not only can’t feel anything underneath me, I can also adjust the firmness to my liking and it is built with Therm-a-rest’s ThermaCapture Radiant Heat Technology meaning I stay warmer as heat is reflected back to my body.
The SpeedValve design is definitely a cool factor to this sleeping pad! The SpeedValve inflates the NeoAir in half the time of a what a conventional valve would do and I can attest to this as Cally and I have had an inflation race. I will say that it takes more effort to inflate than I originally thought, but still better than a traditional valve.
With that said, the deflation time is next to nothing which means you can spend less time in your tent packing up your things and more time out exploring the world!
If you want to take your outdoor sleeping comfort to a whole new level, check out the NeoAir Trekker SV. If you want the whole meal deal, check out the Antares HD Sleeping Bag and the Therm-a-rest Down Pillow. Even the smell of bacon and eggs over a campfire won’t get you out of bed!
