[Info] Forest River Hyper Lite: All Weather Winter Package Floor Insulation

When we were searching for a toy hauler bumper pull trailer, we had the hardest time getting correct information from dealers regarding the insulation in the floor of the trailer that included the All Weather Winter Package.  Many people were unsure of the materials between the corrugated plastic sheeting and the plywood floor of the trailer.  After doing a few different projects in the garage of the trailer, we were able to get a first hand look of the actual materials underneath the floor.  We were actually pleasantly surprised with what was included for insulation.

Under the plywood there is a reflective material that is tougher than foil then there is fiberglass insulation that is maybe 2 or 3 inches thick (hard to tell exactly because of the way it is pushed down in places). To finish it off, there is black corrugated plastic sheeting encasing the insulation. Forest River even went so far as to spray-foam the gaps so theoretically there shouldn’t be any voids.

We haven’t camped in the trailer in extreme cold, but we think with the insulation that is included we will be warmer than with our last trailer, which was simply plywood without any insulation.  We’ve also installed a Planar Diesel Fired heater to keep us warm in the winters so be sure to check that out.

It’s been year since you posted this video. We are looking at the same trailer purchase. How did the extreme weather package do in winter camping?

Hey Rich! It does a nice job and we think it is better than an RV without the extreme weather package (we do a lot of winter camping). With that said, we never fill the lines with water when we are out in the winter so can’t attest to it working in those situations. We also have installed an aftermarket heater by Planar Heaters and that is honestly the best install someone who is winter camping can make. It’s a diesel fired heater and keeps us nice and toasty! You can find more info on the heater here: https://www.adventurerig.com/?s=planar but please don’t hesitate to reach out with any more questions! We’re happy to help. Thanks and happy travels!
