The Zoom Tube Monocular by Nocs Provisions was something we didn’t know we needed until we had it. We’ve been using Nocs Provision Standard Issue 8×25 Binoculars for a few years now and so we were intrigued when Nocs launched their new Monocular. The cool thing about the Zoom Tube is that it’s pretty small and compact (about half the size of the standard issues) so it packs really nicely in a backpack or moto pack. It’s small enough that it’s warranted even on short hikes (especially in wildlife areas).
The 8×32 magnification is great for daily viewings in our opinion. This means that what you are viewing will appear 8 times closer through the Zoom Tube. Can you get a great magnification in an optical tool? Absolutely! Will it be compact and easy to bring with you on many adventures? Probably not.
The Zoom Tube fits really nicely in our hands (male or female) and is comfortable to use with one hand. Its outer grippy material makes it stay in place no matter the conditions you’re in.
Not only is the housing water resistant (IPX4), but it’s also impact-absorbing so we’re really not too concerned when we throw it in the moto pack. The lenses are scratch resistant and honestly, at a price point of $75, you won’t be worried about taking these on your most rugged adventures. If we had binoculars or a monocular that was expensive and less rugged, we would use them less. The Zoom Tube is literally designed for rugged, dirty, rough adventures.
One of the really cool features of the Zoom Tube that we have yet to test out is the fact that you can easily turn it into a Microscope with the screw-on Inspector Microscope 4x Multiplier Lens Accessory. This is so cool to be able to have basically a handheld microscope in your pack. For those who are fascinated by all things nature, this will totally up your game! I can imagine if we did have this accessory, Cally would stop all the time on our walkabouts inspecting all the things up close.
Nocs offers the Zoom Tube in a bunch of different colors and if you’re looking for binoculars, be sure to check out the Standard Issue Binocs and the newer Pro Issue 42mm Binoculars. Nocs is producing high-quality yet affordable optical tools that are designed to go with you on any of your adventures. If you’re like we were before we had our Nocs, you’re probably wondering why you need binoculars/or a monocular. Just trust us, you’ll be glad to have these along on your adventures.
