[Review] The Waterproof Chelsea by Muck Boot CO.

I didn’t think the Chelsea Boot could get any better. That was until the Muck Boot Company decided to make one. Not only is Muck’s Chelsea stylish and comfortable, but it’s also a waterproof boot ready to take on work, all four seasons, and play.

Whether I’m walking through wet, dewy grass or through the mud and puddles left after a heavy rainstorm, my feet stay dry in the Waterproof Chelsea. I really like how these are waterproof yet unassumingly so in looks. The oiled, pull-up leather looks nice and feels nice and I can be protected from the elements without wearing a rubber boot (no offense here, I love all of my rubber boots).

The elastic that you can see exposed on the shaft is an elastic material that makes getting these boots on an off easy. The inner part of the boot is lined with a neoprene for flexibility and comfort. For a leather boot, these are very comfortable. They may feel a little stiff at first but with a few wears, become the perfect fit and feel.

I really appreciate the bit of reinforcement Muck added to the heal of the Chelseas to ensure that no matter how many times you slip these boots off by using your other boot to pry, they’re going to continue to look good. 

The outsole of these boots is ideal for a variety of conditions. It’s not overly aggressive but it does have tread that’s going to give you the support and stability you may need in different terrain. At my job, it’s really important to have a boot with an outsole that won’t cause me to slip, lose my footing, or become flat and worn down over time. I’ve been really happy with the tread shape, design, and size.

I’m usually a size 10 but I actually had to size down to a 9 in these boots. I won’t be able to wear thicker socks with the 9, but I’m ok with that. One thing to note is that if you have extremely hot feet like myself, these may be a bit too warm on those 80-90 degree summer days. If you are like Cally and your feet are always cold, you’re going to love them.

If you’re looking for an extremely stylish yet very functional Chelsea, I would highly recommend the Waterproof Chelsea made by Muck Boot. I know these can handle any abuse that I throw at them and at the end of the day, really exceed in functionality over your traditional Chelsea leather boot.
