Helly Hansen’s warmest base layers, the Lifa Merino Crew and Pant, is a set of base layers I find myself reaching for on most days. Unless it’s an unseasonably warm day in Colorado, the Lifa Merino is the perfect weight to keep me warm and comfortable all day long. Built with merino wool and Helly’s Lifa technology, you’re getting the best of both worlds.
The Lifa base layers are actually a 2-part construction with Lifa fibers up against the skin and a 100% merino wool exterior. With Lifa up against the skin, it works to trap hot air yet it won’t lose it’s warmth if it gets wet. Merino on the exterior works to wick away the moisture from the interior to exterior, keeping you warmer and dryer. Merino wool also has an added benefit of being naturally anti-microbial so you won’t start to stink on day one of the hut trip.
The Lifa/Merino combo is extremely warm and very comfortable up against the skin. It doesn’t itch at all. With Flat Lock Seams throughout, you won’t have any chafing or discomfort against the skin.
I wear a size large in most Helly Hansen gear, although I do almost feel like I could’ve sized down for the Lifa Merino Pant. I’m 6ft tall, 185 pounds. The medium pants would be a little bit tighter but I don’t think they would’ve been too tight.
If you’re looking for a comfortable and warm base layer system, look no further than Helly Hansen’s Lifa Merino Crew and Pant. They’ll keep you warm, dry, and happy no matter what adventure you’re embarking on.
