I’ve had a dream of owning overalls for the last few years, however, I’d given up looking because anytime I tried a pair on, they were too short and not flattering at all. I have a long inseam, wide hips but a smaller waist, a shorter torso, and strong legs. All of this makes for finding overalls that fit well, a bit of a challenge. I had given up my search until I was introduced to Dovetail Workwear. I was so excited not only for the Freshley Overalls but for the fact they came in my favorite Black Stretch Denim and size options 000-24 with FOUR different inseam lengths. Really, my mind was blown and I couldn’t wait to get myself a pair.
Size and comfort are two factors that I think work hand in hand to give me a perfect pair of pants/overalls and so I’ll start there. I love that Dovetail offers a whopping FOUR different inseam lengths with these overalls. I think that’s unheard of and I feel like no matter what your size and shape is, you should be able to make a pair of these work for you. I’m a size 6/8/10 in pants and I went with the 8×34 in the Freshleys. I also have the Dovetail Maven Slim in Black Stretch Denim and I have those in an 8×32. Because I’ve experienced this slight inconsistency, I would definitely suggest trying on before you buy even if you’ve had Dovetail gear in the past. It’s also worth mentioning that I felt as though the 32s in the Freshley were way too short, and the 34s are a bit long. I would rather have long than short so I opted for the 34s but I thought it was strange the difference in length between just two sizes. I do like how the 8s fit, but if you want a little bit looser fit, I would size up. From all of the pairs I’ve tried, these have to be the best fitting overalls across the board.
I like how the suspenders have built-in elastic. It really helps to allow the overalls to move with you and also make it easy to get in and out of them without having to unbuckle them entirely. The gusseted crotch also helps give these a bit of flex where there may otherwise be restraint.
If you’re in an industry where you need a lot of useful pockets, you are going to quickly fall in love with the Freshleys. Dovetail has a pretty solid pocket game and the Freshleys are no exception to that. I love the front panel pockets – especially the hidden zip pocket – and the side panel thigh pockets are great as well. The hand pockets, both in the front and back, are actually big enough that you can use them (or put your hands in them).
I have the Maven Slim in the Black Stretch Denim and now the Freshley’s and honestly it will be hard to go with any other material. I love it for the way it feels, looks, and holds up. It is a durable material but it doesn’t feel like cardboard up against your skin. While I feel like this material is certainly stronger than average denim, I also appreciate how Dovetail reinforced the knees. There is a double panel from the top of the thigh down way past your knee, which adds to extra durability while you’re working. I’m not afraid to use this for a hard day of work but I also think they’re cute and comfy enough for a day of adventuring.
If you’ve been on the search for the perfect pair of overalls, look no further. The Freshley Overall by Dovetail is comfortable, durable, and offered in sizes 000-24 with (FOUR) different inseam lengths. I’ve been so happy with my Dovetail Workwear this season and another huge benefit is that I won’t have to get rid of work pants after just one season. Be sure to check all of the styles that Dovetail offers, but I especially recommend the Maven Slim.
