[Review] Cypher Belay Glasses

The Belay Glasses by Cypher will without a doubt improve your day. I’ve honestly always thought that belay glasses appear to be a little goofy looking but I had never given them a try. This is absolutely one of those things that I never should have knocked until I tried! I went from having neck strain before lunch to making it all day without the thought of my neck hurting. Belay glasses should be a part of your climbing kit and the Cypher Belay glasses have their perks.

First of all, these belay glasses are lightweight. You’ll hardly know that they’re there, that is once you get used to them. I say this because when I first put these on, they did take a little getting used to. I definitely recommend putting these on for a while on the ground and getting used to them before belaying with them on. A very enlightening thing about the Cypher glasses is that they fit over most sunglasses or prescription glasses. My eyes are quite sensitive to the sun and the thought of having to trade in sunglasses for belay glasses didn’t have me so excited at first. These easily fit over my medium size sunglasses so I can protect my eyes while having the benefit of the belay glasses.

The material used for the Cypher Belay Glasses is lightweight yet durable. You can see in the video that the flex of the frames will be beneficial if you bend, sit on, drop, etc these glasses. The prisms are made of high-quality glass that you’ll want to be extra protective of. Cypher makes it easy to keep your prisms fresh as these come with an included carry case.

I honestly feel pretty bad about ever giggling at what these glasses look like because they certainly make a world of difference in my comfort of the day. I no longer have neck strain during or after long days at the crag.
