[Review] The Women’s Cloud Bank™ Gore-Tex® Insulated Jacket by Mountain Hardwear

I’m digging my new Cloud Bank Gore-Tex Insulated Jacket by Mountain Hardwear this year for all of my inbounds skiing. It is the best of both worlds, combining the industry’s favorite Gore-Tex with insulation. I can stay dry no matter what but still have the warmth. I honestly can’t ski inbounds without insulated pieces these days. 

Even on warmer resort days, I still reach for my insulated jackets and this one is no exception. If it’s supposed to be 30ºF and sunny, I will just wear a base layer under the Cloud Bank. If it’s supposed to be less than 30ºF, I’ll start layering up accordingly. Most typically I’ll wear a base layer and a down/hybrid mid layer. We have had some cold and windy days this season and the Cloud Bank has not disappointed. 

Gore-Tex is a nice guarantee because it will keep you dry on even the wettest of days. The nice thing about Gore-Tex is that it moves with you not against you. This jacket isn’t restricting in any ways whether I’m in the terrain park or in the back bowls. 

I love all the pockets that are included in the Cloud Bank. There’s no shortage, that’s for sure. I especially love that Mountain Hardwear is doing what I call the midway pocket that’s really comfortable to stash your hands when you’re standing around the fire for apres. 

I’m tough when it comes to sizing because I think truly I’m between a medium and a large. I went with the large in this jacket, but I do like the oversized look plus I can layer up underneath. I also like the length of this jacket. I think a medium would’ve been a bit more streamlined of a fit so I probably could’ve gotten away with either. I’m 5’10 and 160 pounds and this is how the large looks on me.
