[Review] The Sofa Edition by Big Barker

I feel like every time we get a new Big Barker for Hank the review starts out the same: We have found Hank’s new all-time favorite dog bed. Big Barker has launched the new Sofa Edition dog bed and it is now Hank’s favorite. He is coming off the of the 7” Headrest Edition which he still loves very much but we knew he would be an even bigger fan of the new Sofa Edition. The Sofa Edition bed has three pillow sides and we’ve never seen him comfier than he is on this bed. 

First of all, ever since we started using Big Barker a couple of years ago, we haven’t looked back. Not only is Hank comfier than ever, but he is also healthier than he would be without his Big Barker. We noticed a significant difference in Hank’s joint health and stiffness when he sleeps on his Big Barker vs. another bed that lacks support. Big Barker beds are made with a proprietary 3-stage blend of American-made foam that offers ultimate comfort, doesn’t cause pressure points (see the video and how Hank’s 100-pound body is not hitting the floor in any spot), and won’t flatten over time. If you don’t believe our observations of Hank feeling better after sleeping on his Big Barker (we especially observed less stiffness), Big Barker conducted a study with the University of Pennsylvania. You can read more about it on their site but it proved that there were improvements in dogs who switched to Big Barker. Hank is 8 years old and 100 pounds and so we know his joint health is becoming more of a concern with every year. Our major regret is that he hasn’t been sleeping on a Big Barker for his whole life. 

What Hank loves about the Sofa Edition the most is the 3-sided pillow. He has pillows on each side to cuddle up against and up on and he has never looked comfier on a bed. If your dog is the type of dog who likes to be surrounded by pillows when he has his own bed at the hotel, then your dog will love the Sofa Edition. 

Of course, another amazing benefit of Big Barker beds is that they are easy to wash. The cover comes off in seconds and can be washed in your washing machine and air dried. After a quick wash cycle, Hank’s bed looks brand new. We certainly don’t treat it nicely as he comes in with muddy paws often and goes straight to his bed. The microfiber cover continues to look nice even after years of constant use. 

We do want to mention the sizing of the Sofa Edition is definitely something to pay attention to. You can use Big Barker’s size guide but just take note that unlike the Headrest Edition or Sleek Edition, the three pillow sides take up a little bit of space so you’ll want to account for that when measuring. The large footprint fits perfectly in our space, but Hank could easily fit on the XL. As you can see from pics it’s not as though the large is too small, it’s just a tighter fit than his Headrest Edition because of the pillows. 

Once again, we’re bummed Hank hasn’t had the world’s most comfortable bed for his entire 8 years of life! He’s happy now though, and I guess that’s what really matters.
