For the past few years, Orage has been one of my favorite brands for many reasons. The Cath Jacket paired with the Clara Pant set-up is no exception. My go-to outfit for resort park days is warm, comfortable, and affordable.
The Cath Jacket is insulated with Primaloft – 100g in the core and 80g in the arms – ensuring you’ll stay warm even on the coldest of days. While I feel like the jacket is well insulated, it doesn’t feel overly bulky. Paired with an eco DWR coating, you are sure to stay dry on those deep powder days.
Speaking of powder, the integrated powder skirt is sure to keep snow out of your pants. I’m not usually a user of the pow skirt and while this one isn’t removable, I don’t find it getting in my way in the day to day.
The pockets are plentiful in the Cath Jacket. All of the exterior pockets are zip closure, which is great to ensure you won’t lose your valuables. I also have to embarrassingly admit that I love the pass pocket on the sleeve. I never used to appreciate this pocket until our home mountain put the scanners up that scan through your jacket. This is a huge convenience having this pocket! The interior media pocket isn’t a zip closure, which I think is a little weird. I’m definitely hesitant to put my phone in there for fear that I would lose it (I guess I could just learn how to not eat shit?).
I love the fit of the Cath Jacket. It’s a bit longer than a traditional jacket and I love that it covers a bit more of my butt on the chairlift. I’m normally a size large in outer layers and this large fits perfectly (I’m 5’10 and 150 pounds). Sometimes I am hesitant with sizing with non-US based companies (Orage is out of Canada) but they seem to be pretty consistent with US company sizes as of late.
If you’re looking for an affordable insulated jacket for any of your winter endeavors, I have to suggest the Cath Jacket by Orage. It has all the necessities you would want in a ski jacket all while looking stylish, sleek, and staying comfortable. Pair the Cath Jacket with the Clara pants for the full meal deal and you’ll be warm and happy.
The Cath Jacket
$249.99Pros
- Affordable
- Keeps me warm and dry
- Functional yet very simple design
- Pass pocket on the sleeve
- Little bit longer of a cut is nice for those cold and wet chairlift rides
Cons
- Media pocket doesn't zip
- Pow skirt could be removable for those of us who don't use them often
- I like the fit of this jacket, however it's not the most flattering jacket I've ever worn. I'm guessing it's because it's insulated and I'd rather be warm than looking my best so I can't really ding this too much as a con.
