If you’ve read or seen any of my reviews in the past, you’ll probably know why I’m such a newfound fan of G-Form. No matter what I seem to be doing, whether it is mountain biking or dirt biking, I seem to be consistently good at falling. While my falls still hurt, a lot of the hurt is minimized thanks to my new Pro-X Compression Shorts by G-Form. These shorts have padding where you need it most including the hips, thighs, and tailbone. Aside from being really great impact protection, they are extremely slim and comfortable.
The RPT padding is what makes these pads stand out from the rest. They don’t restrict movement, are not bulky at all, but harden on impact giving you the ultimate protection in the most comfortable way. We’ve even seen the pads in action thanks to a really cool demonstration so be sure and watch the video to see that!
I get really annoyed with layers that are tight and that I can feel and so I was very hesitant to start wearing these compression shorts. Not only would I have to wear virtually spandex over my base layers, I thought, but they’d also have pads on them making them even more noticeable. I really didn’t want to. The first ride I threw them on and was totally surprised. Not only did the fit feel great, I could hardly even notice I was wearing padding.
I’m 5’10 and 150 pounds and I definitely have a hard time with sizing especially for bottoms. I have a small waist but pretty wide hips and large (or strong as I like to say) thighs. I definitely knew I didn’t want the waistband of the shorts to be tight because nothing bugs me more than that. I diligently took my measurements and compared them to G-Form’s size chart. While the large was probably the correct size, I decided to size up to an extra large just so they wouldn’t be too tight.
The material used for the compression shorts is a breathable and comfortable fabric. While wearing the shorts is a bit warmer than not wearing them (obviously) G-Form has taken this into consideration. The crotch has mesh-ish material panels allowing for extra airflow in that area. Also, should you be wearing the shorts on their own they are UPF 50+ so you’re safe from the sun.
There are not enough good things to say about G-Form’s impact protection gear and I’m so happy to finally have some. Coming from me, it means a lot that these compression shorts are comfortable and easy to wear. I get easily annoyed with bottom layers and I can wear these without even noticing it. Protect yourself without the bulk and discomfort that you think of with traditional padding.
